Making social mobility happen: Career Academies UK Annual Conference 2010 (National)

Figures suggest that it's harder to improve life chances now than it was a generation ago. The Government has recently announced the creation of a Social Mobility Commission and all political parties recognise it as a major issue, but disagree about the actions needed to achieve it in practice.

Cost: Free

Programme: The agenda will be published here soon. This conference will look at how we all - education, employers and government - can make social mobility a reality for young people. We are organising a line up of speakers with national and international reputations to inform, inspire and even irritate you so that we can all get involved in lively debate - and plan for action! We will also be launching an idependent research report on the impact of the Career Academies programme, and seeking to draw wider lessons from its conclusions on building partnerships between education and employers to ibcrease the aspirations and achievemnts of our young people.
