Career Academies UK

Around the UK, 3,000 employee volunteers from over 500 organisations contribute time and skills to the Career Academy programme. Some volunteers have a long history of working in business; others have just graduated from university. All enjoy the company of young people and genuinely want to support and guide them by sharing their knowledge and experience.

Employers report that our Career Academy programme helps them to:

  • become leaders in the communities they serve
  • improve skills in coaching and managing people through employee volunteering
  • develop an employability pipeline that will eventually lead to a more diverse employee base
  • develop their corporate social responsibility practice in a manageable way.

Within an overarching Career Academy framework, we work flexibly with each employer to best meet the needs of their particular business and local community. But, for example, you or your colleagues might like to:

  • mentor a student
  • speak to a group of young people in their classroom
  • host a tour of your workplace
  • provide an internship placement
  • join a Career Academy Local Advisory Board in your community
  • host a reunion for our Alumni Network.

Some supporting employers offer one volunteer for just a couple of hours a year, while others embed the programme company-wide. Interested in joining the Career Academy movement? Please contact us.
