Career Academies UK appoints Field Development Manager for Northern Ireland

Tuesday 10 November

The recent appointment of Hayden Kinley to Career Academies UK as Field Development Manager for Northern Ireland is a positive indication of the growth of the organisation in the region. Launching in 2008 with Belfast Metropolitan College’s Career Academy in Business and Finance, there are now four Career Academies across Northern Ireland. Career Academies in Business and ICT and also Life Sciences are now running at Belfast Metropolitan College, and Business and Finance Career Academies at North West Regional College (Limavady Campus) and at Southern Regional College (Newry Campus). South Western Regional College, is currently engaged in the Year of Planning with a view to offering a Career Academy in Business and Finance on its Enniskillen campus in September 2010.

Hayden has over 30 years’ experience in the Northern Ireland FE sector and, whilst acknowledging the current challenging economic environment, is delighted to be taking up the post.  “I’m delighted to be involved in Career Academies UK here in Northern Ireland, as it’s a model of employer engagement that has has had proven success across the UK. The programme develops those employability skills of the students involved and raises their aspirations to fulfill their potential in life. It is also very encouraging,” he added, “to come on board at a time when three colleges have already established such a good foundation on which to build the future development of Career Academies across the region.”
