Career Academy students are star hosts at The Big Conversation

Tuesday 23 March

On 16 March, two first year students from the Bulwell Academy joined Anne Davies, presenter of East Midlands Today to host the East Midlands 'Big Conversation' at Boots's UK's support office in Nottingham. During the event one-to-one conversations between Chief Executives and young people took place to discuss ways to improve work experience. Students Michael and Samantha did a sterling job and should be extremely proud of themselves, representing their school and their Career Academy fantastically.

The 'Big Converation' events are part of Business in the Community's (BITC) national Work Inspiration campaign, led by Sir Stuart Rose, executive chairman of Marks & Spencer and chairman of BITC, is encouraging businesses of all sizes and types, across all sectors, to commit to improving and expanding the work experience they offer to help bridge the gap between the classroom and the world of work. Big Conversation events are taking place across the country, designed to obtain student input to improve the provision of work experience. Career Academy students who have supported earlier 'Big Conversation' events have been keen to stress to the business leaders the benefits of an internship over classic work experience. We are proud to be supporting this initiative and would like to thank all the Career Academy students who have taken part so far.
