BUPA host Career Academy students

Thursday 4 March

My journey on the Career Academy programme began in February with a visit to BUPA in Manchester.  We were treated like real business people and taken into a conference room where we heard all about the business side of the organisation. Four different employees talked to us about their work and responsibilities, which helped us develop a really clear idea of how important business is to BUPA. It was clear that the presenters were experts in their field because of the depth and detail they went into about what they do.

After visiting BUPA we went to Manchester Central Library and all became members to enable us to access Mintel reports and other secondary sources of data and information for our study of business.

The whole experience was really good and whilst at BUPA we were assisted by Julie Crudden, who works for Career Academies UK .

The Career Academy path will offer us many chances that we would not otherwise get. At the end of the two years we will have something special to put on our CVs which should ensure we stand out from the crowd when we apply to university.

We are already looking forward to the other opportunities that will come to us including having a Partner in Business and a six week paid internship.
