We're looking to grow the programme in London and other major urban centres in the UK.  If you're interested in starting a Career Academy in your school or college, please contact us.  We can help you decide whether a Career Academy is an appropriate model for your community, and guide you in preparing the written proposal for affiliation to the UK Career Academy Foundation.

There are many good reasons to start a Career Academy, but it is not a panacea for all the problems of post 16 education.

Career Academies are a lot of work.  They require collaboration from a number of parties - from within the education institution and in the community - and can cause new problems.  For example, scheduling can become more difficult, due to the need to group students together across several classes.  If attempted, a Career Academy should be implemented carefully and thoroughly.

In recognition of the challenges, we provide technical assistance to schools and colleges for a full year before a Career Academy is implemented.  Advanced planning and engagement of all members of the Career Academy team - including teachers, senior managers and business partners - is essential to a successful Career Academy launch.

Institutions accepted for Year of Planning (YOP) status work through a series of structured planning activities, prior to enrolling students, to align resources and programmes to serve both the Career Academy implementation and broader school/college improvement plans

The deadline to enrol on the next Year of Planning is 30 April 2006We look forward to working with you.
